Black Hole Development Journal

Black Hole Development Journal

We just received the Gold Sample for Black Hole Mini Pinball – our final review before mass production.

Since Black Hole isn’t fully playable at this scale, this one is really about recreating the look and feel of the original machine – the lighting, sounds, score animation, cabinet details, and overall presence.

The Gold Sample does that really well. Insert a coin and it adds a credit, start a game and it runs through a pre-recorded gameplay sequence with synchronized audio and animated scoring. The shooter can launch a small ball up the lane, and the cabinet has real metal legs and adjustable levelers.

We shot a short video to show it off. It’s less of a walk-through than our Golden Tee or Crystal Castles videos and more a look at some of our favorite details and features.

The lighting is probably our favorite part. Between the playfield, backbox, displays, and Neon Vapor black-light underlighting, it has a ton of presence – especially sitting next to the rest of the RepliCade lineup.

We did catch a few things for the factory to clean up before production. Most notably, the pop bumpers were missing their LED underlighting, plus a few smaller fit-and-finish items.

Overall, though, we’re extremely happy with where it landed.

Our current target schedule is:

* Mass production – September-October 2026
* Goods arrive at NWT HQ – November 2026
* Presale shipments begin – Before Christmas 2026

Stay tuned for more updates as we have them!

This is actually Amazing, i unfortunately missed the preorder back then. But just like Golden tee, i was able to purchase one day one. Might try and do same with this one. It is a bit steep but i can see all the attention to detail thrown into this cabinet and the love that you are trying to represent. Great Job New Wave. Long time fan, been a long time patient and positive purchaser. Keep up the great work and also love the constant communication here recently.

Love it. Wish it was fully functional, but that would be cost prohibitive.

I guess I missed that major detail when I pre ordered years ago that it is not playable at this scale. Disappointing.
Looks amazing but all the other arcade purchases I’ve made are fully playable.
Keep up the good work. There is still no others out there with New Wave’s commitment to detail and quality.

I’m excited to see this coming, I heard the comments when I it came out about not being able to be played. I for one dont play the games to waurent the cost of making a playable version.
400. Plus is getting expensive as I collect quarter times arcade games also. Keep up the great work Newwave Toys.
