Golden Tee has always occupied a unique place in arcade culture – part competitive game, part social ritual, and still instantly recognizable decades later.
This week, the final production sample for Golden Tee x Replicade arrived at New Wave HQ. Known in manufacturing as the “gold sample,” this is the final version we review and approve before the factory begins full mass production.
We recently sat down to take a closer look at the machine, walking through the cabinet, accessories, gameplay, and many of the small details that helped define the original arcade experience.
A Closer Look
Golden Tee x Replicade is one of our most feature-rich projects to date.
The machine includes six classic versions of Golden Tee, HDMI output with screen mirroring, an optional wireless trackball controller, a rechargeable DMD topper, and a variety of accessories inspired by the original arcade cabinets. Around the back you’ll find service details including the faux power cord, security lock, ventilation grille, and operator panel – features that most players never saw, but collectors immediately recognize.
As always, our goal isn’t simply to recreate the front of the cabinet. It’s to faithfully capture the details that made the original machine feel authentic from every angle.
Final Review Before Production
By the time a project reaches the gold sample stage, most of the engineering work is complete. This final review gives us one last opportunity to verify cabinet fit, artwork, lighting, packaging, accessories, and gameplay before approving the factory to move into full production.
After months of development, it’s always exciting to see everything come together in a production-ready machine.
